Welcome to Tails From A Shelter!
We're a small team of trainers and shelter workers that provide positive reinforcement training, behavior support, and resources to set shelter dogs up for adoption success. We work with shelters and rescues to assist with training and behavior needs of in-shelter and foster home dogs, focusing on their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing and advocating for quality of life, for life.
ABOUT US
We actively work with our incredible local shelter organizations, volunteering our time to work with dogs both in-shelter and in foster homes. We can assist with everything from training foundations and puppy socialization to fear and frustration-based reactivity. We are able to work with dogs with a bite history, but at this time are unable to assist with severe aggression cases, as these require extensive specialized support. We hope to be able to assist with these issues in future, and in the meantime would be glad to refer you!
We treat every dog as an individual, with their own personality, past experiences, needs, and challenges. We often have to start from scratch, building trust and working to undo a history that may include neglect, abuse, and other pain and trauma. We work with each dog to overcome these experiences, providing behaviour support and increasing their chances of adoption success.
We are committed to reducing the number of homeless dogs in our community, and advocate for our shelter students to help them find permanent homes. We fight for the forgotten. The fearful. The shut down. The unwanted. The imperfect. The ones who have run out of chances. And the ones who never had a chance to begin with. From strays to surrenders, we advocate for dogs and the people who love them.
